החג הראשון מתוך חגי הסתיו נקרא "יום תרועה" — יום תקיעת השופר. ביהדות המודרנית הוא מוכר כ"ראש השנה", ונחוג כיום תחילתה של השנה העברית. לכן, מנהג נפוץ ביום זה הוא לאחל זה לזה: "שנה טובה".
במהלך החג נהוג לאכול תפוח בדבש.
התפוח והדבש מסמלים את הדאגה והטוב שאלוהים יעניק לנו בשנה הקרובה.
על חג זה אנו קוראים בויקרא כ"ג: כ"ד:
"דַּבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר; בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִי בְּאֶחָד לַחֹדֶשׁ, יִהְיֶה לָכֶם שַׁבָּתוֹן, זִכְרוֹן תְּרוּעָה, מִקְרָא־קֹדֶשׁ."
אבל מה אמורה להזכיר לנו תקיעת השופר?
בכתבי הקודש יש שני קטעים שמתארים את אלוהים עצמו תוקע בשופר:
המקום הראשון הוא בשמות י"ט: י"ג, כאשר בני ישראל התכוננו לעלות להר סיני ולפגוש את אלוהים.
המקום השני הוא בראשונה לתסלוניקים 4:16-17:
"שֶׁכֵּן הָאָדוֹן עַצְמוֹ יֵרֵד מִן־הַשָּׁמַיִם בִּקְרִיאָה שֶׁל פְּקֻדָּה, בְּקוֹל שַׂר הַמַּלְאָכִים וּבְשׁוֹפַר אֱלֹהִים, וְהַמֵּתִים הַשַּׁיָּכִים לַמָּשִׁיחַ יָקוּמוּ רִאשׁוֹנָה. אַחֲרֵי כֵן אֲנַחְנוּ הַנִּשְׁאָרִים בַּחַיִּים נִלָּקַח יַחַד אִתָּם בַּעֲנָנִים לִפְגֹּשׁ אֶת הָאָדוֹן בָּאֲוִיר, וְכָךְ נִהְיֶה תָּמִיד עִם הָאָדוֹן."
בשני המקרים הללו, תקיעת השופר מכריזה על הופעתו הגלויה של אלוהים.
בשמות י"ט, קול השופר מן השמיים הלך והתחזק עד שכל העם שעמד למרגלות הר סיני רעד מפחד. ואז אלוהים דיבר, ויותר ממיליון ישראלים שמעו את קולו של אלוהים בו-זמנית.
בראשונה לתסלוניקים 4:16, אלוהים שוב תוקע בשופרו מן השמיים כאשר ישוע המשיח שב לעולם בגילוי כבוד אלוהים.
תקיעת השופר מכריזה על הופעתו הגלויה של אלוהים.
וכאשר אנו שומעים את קול השופר מדי שנה ביום תרועה — חג השופרות — אנו זוכרים שישוע המשיח עתיד לחזור בקרוב!
The first of the Fall Feasts is called Yom Teruah-The Day of Trumpets. In modern day Judaism, it is known as Rosh Hashanah, Head of the Year, and is celebrated as the Jewish New Year. Thus, a common custom is to say “L’shanah tovah”, which means, “May it be a good year.”
During this Holiday it is common to eat apples dipped in honey.
The apples and honey represent God’s provision and sweetness that He will manifest in the coming year. We read about this feast (Yom Teruah) in Leviticus 23:24 –
“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘In the seventh month on the first of the month (Tishri) you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.”
But what does the shofar help us to remember?
In the Holy Scriptures, there are two passages that speak of the LORD, Himself, blowing the shofar.
The first passage is found in [tooltips content="
No hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot through; whether beast or man, he shall not live.’ When the ram’s horn sounds a long blast, they shall come up to the mountain.
Exodus 19:13 NASB 1995"]Exodus 19:13[/tooltips], when the children of Israel prepared themselves to go up to Mount Sinai to meet the LORD. The second is found in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 –
“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.”
In both of these instances the blowing of the shofar announces God’s manifest presence. In [tooltips content="
